about

At the bottom of my garden there really is a Woodpecker who made a nest in the Willow Tree ... it would have been rude not to!!

lyrics

At the bottom of my garden, is a great big Willow tree
The squirrels they all run and play, I’ll swear they’re lookin’ at me
Now we got ourselves a little Woodpecker & he’s been pecking a hole
Made himself a nest in the willow tree … I guess that is a woodpeckers role

We went down to the local bar & sang some songs for free
The landlord said I like what you do, won’t you sing some songs for me
I hear you do a little bit o’ Skiffle & I know you do a few of your own
You could probably get a gig on Sunday man, Saturday’s for songs that we know

STOP … Chorus
The Woodpeckers sings his own songs
And you can sing along
The Woodpeckers sings his own songs
And you can sing along
La la la etc x 2

There was a guy standing in the hallway and he was shaking his head
He said, “I don’t know why you do all those drinking songs man, you could do something sweet instead”
I said, “I guess we could do some Beatles, then everyone would sing along
But if all we ever did was covers man, you’d never hear a brand new song”

I said, “If you look up to that tall tree, you’ll see a big black scary crow
He’s been sitting there a long time … and this is a song that he knows
I said, “Thanks, but well sing our own songs man, that cannot be wrong
Why don’t you like us on Facebook, then you can sing along”…. Ha ha ha!

Chorus

Now the Woodpecker pecked a hole, right there in my willow tree
Y’ don’t need t’ know about ornithology…. To see that he’s happy
He found himself a Woodpecker lady, and they made pretty Woodpecker babies
Now I can hear those Woodpecker chicks, and I’ll swear they’re singing to me

Like a Woodpecker in a tree
Go on set y’self free x 2

Chorus x 2
